About Us

Eddie originally from Dublin was a traditional chef who learnt his trade on the job in Jury’s Hotel, Dublin. With over 31 years in the industry Eddie has held various pressurised chefing positions on Cruise Liners, with Archaos Circus & Glastonbury Festival.
He has worked in top restaurants and hotels in France, Britain and Holland including The Shore Bar, Edinburgh and The Waterfront wine bar & restaurant, Edinburgh. This is where he specialized in culinary seafood.
In 1996 he returned to Ireland where he put his experience to work along the West Coast working in various renowned seafood restaurants.

Irene originally from Edinburgh, has worked in front of house in various top restaurants including Salvo’s Restaurant in Leeds, Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh before moving into a career as an English Teacher. Irene a graduated from Stirling University with a BA(hons)Dip Ed.
Despite loving her career as a teacher Irene found it hard to leave her passion for food behind her.

In 2005 this duo seized the opportunity to put their love and passion for good food to work and took the plunge to open Co Clare's premier seafood restaurant.
Eddie & Irene are very much hands on, ensuring that the service is friendly, informal, excellent but unobtrusive. Their aim is to provide an affordable, relaxing and enjoyable experience with of course. excellent food. This is achieved through their culinary creativity, experience and with the help of locally sourced fresh produce. Unpretentious delicious food & a buzzy atmosphere have always been the heart of The Old Bake House.
